This isn't a tagline. It's a constraint we write into every product decision. When we choose an ingredient, we ask whether it's sustainable. When we design packaging, we ask whether it can be recycled or composted. When we formulate, we make sure nothing harmful goes down the drain. Luxury and responsibility are not opposites — at CALBA, they're the same thing.
Clean Ingredients
Every active ingredient in every CALBA formula is plant-derived, biodegradable, and traceable to its source. We never use petroleum derivatives, synthetic preservatives, or ingredients that persist harmfully in the environment.

The Moisturizing Balm ships in a paperboard push-up tube — no plastic. The Chein Athletique bottle is glass, not plastic. Our outer boxes are FSC-certified recycled cardboard. We are actively eliminating all virgin plastic from our supply chain.

No CALBA product has ever been tested on animals. We never will. Every formula is safety-assessed using validated in-vitro methods. Our ingredient suppliers are contractually prohibited from conducting animal testing anywhere in their supply chain.

Manufacturing locally means shorter supply chains, lower transport emissions, stricter environmental controls, and economic investment in American communities. We're proud that every CALBA product is made, filled, and packed in the United States.

Moisturizing Balm
Our balm uses a cardboard push-up tube — the same format used for sustainable lip balms and deodorants. No plastic body, no plastic lid. The tube is curbside recyclable once empty and can also be composted if your local facility accepts paper-based materials.
The outer sleeve is printed with soy-based ink on FSC-certified recycled stock. The CALBA dog mark is embossed, not foiled — zero metallic contamination in the recycling stream.
Chein Athletique Cologne
The cologne bottle is clear glass — infinitely recyclable with no quality degradation. Glass has a dramatically lower long-term environmental impact than PET plastic for a product meant to last. The black cap is ABS plastic, our one compromise — and our #1 redesign priority for 2026.
The outer box is matte-laminated recycled cardboard. The gold lettering uses hot-stamp foil on a recyclable substrate. We are in development on a water-based alternative that maintains the luxury finish without the foil.

No animal testing at any stage of production or in our supply chain. Leaping Bunny standard applied internally.
Natural Origin
All active ingredients are of 100% natural origin, meeting ISO 16128 definitions for natural cosmetics.
Made in USA
Manufactured, filled, and labeled in the United States under FDA cosmetic safety guidelines.
Biodegradable
Formulas pass OECD 301F ready biodegradability testing. Safe for aquatic environments and drainage systems.
