The Beginning

Born from a love of dogs
and an obsession
with quality.

It started with a belief that felt obvious once we had it: if we surround ourselves with luxury, why shouldn't our dogs?

We were the first to ask that question seriously — and the first to answer it. Before CALBA, luxury dog cologne didn't exist. Not really. No one had ever approached pet fragrance the way the great perfume houses approach their craft. We did.

Chein Athletique was born from that conviction. Top notes, mid notes, base notes — a fragrance pyramid built around the dog. Bergamot and aquatic amber opening into cedarwood and frankincense, settling into a rich base of oud, musk and vanilla. Formulated to perfection.

It found its audience immediately. Their dogs already carried themselves like royalty. Now they could smell like it too.

Every formula we create begins the same way — with a genuine belief that it can be done better. Ingredients chosen by origin, by function, by safety. Nothing launched until we were proud of it.

The Concept

The idea arrives fully formed: if we surround ourselves with luxury, why shouldn't our dogs? Not a novelty. Not a gimmick. A genuine luxury cologne for dogs, developed with the rigour of French parfumerie.

Chein Athletique

The world's first luxury dog cologne is created. Top notes of bergamot and aquatic amber. A heart of frankincense and cedarwood. A base of oud, musk and vanilla that lingers for hours. Formulated to perfection.

2022

CALBA Is Founded

The brand takes shape around the product. A commitment to natural ingredients, veterinary rigour, and zero compromise.

2024

The Balm

The Moisturizing Balm is created — the same standard applied to skin care. Every ingredient screened by origin, function, and safety. Vet partnership secured. Formulated to perfection.

2025

Launch

CALBA launches on Amazon. First 1,000 customers. Five-star reviews arrive faster than expected. Vet approval confirmed.

Expanding

New formulas in development. Direct-to-consumer site launched. The line grows — the standard stays the same.

The CALBA
Philosophy

Luxury and responsibility are not opposites. At CALBA, they are the same thing. Every product decision passes through the same filter: would we put this on ourselves?

We are a small team. We move carefully. We don't launch until we're proud. We believe the best brands in the world are built this way.

Ingredient Standard

If we wouldn't use it ourselves, it doesn't go in.

Every ingredient is screened against four criteria: natural origin, biodegradability, traceability to source, and absence of harm to pets or the environment. One fail = not in the formula.

Veterinary Partnership

Formulated with vets, not just approved by them.

Vet approval isn't a sticker we put on a box. Our formulations are developed alongside veterinary dermatologists who challenge every ingredient choice from the first draft.

Packaging

The package is part of the product.

Matte black. Gold foil. Paperboard push-up tubes. Glass bottles. Every packaging decision is made to look extraordinary and leave the smallest possible footprint. The ABS plastic cap on the cologne is our one remaining challenge — we're solving it in 2026.

Transparency

We publish what we know, including what we don't know yet.

Our sustainability report names numbers that make us proud and numbers that don't. We think this is the only honest way to operate. Greenwashing helps no one.

Pricing

Premium pricing reflects premium ingredients.

We are not the cheapest option. We are the best option. The price reflects fair-trade sourcing, veterinary development, USA manufacturing, and FSC-certified packaging — not a margin grab.

For too long the pet care industry has assumed pet owners don't read labels. We assume they do. We believe dogs deserve the same quality of care we apply to ourselves — and that owners who love their dogs deserve products that live up to that love.

Luxury is a responsibility

A premium price tag is a promise. It promises better ingredients, better ethics, better outcomes. We take that promise seriously. We don't charge more because we can — we charge what it actually costs to do this properly.

Slow is the right speed

We won't expand the line until the next product is truly ready. We won't compromise a formula to hit a price point. We won't launch in a market we can't serve properly. Building CALBA the right way takes time. We're comfortable with that.
